HERCULES MOUNTAIN BIKING HIMACHAL | HISTORY

HERCULES MOUNTAIN BIKING HIMACHAL is Mountain Terrain Biking Himachal, an annual mountain cycling adventure stage race, which takes place in The Himachal Himalayas every year. The only stage race, of its kind in The Himalayas, HERCULES MOUNTAIN BIKING HIMACHAL was first organized in the fall of 2005, attracting a participation 36 riders from India and abroad. The route 480 kms long, that year meandered through interior Himachal Pradesh, under the lap of the Himalayas, winding through singletracks, jeep tracks, with some bike and hike sections, a real test of endurance of the riders. It was the first time in India that a mountain cycling adventure was organized, and to the delight of Team HASTPA (Himalayan Adventure Sports & Tourism Promotion Association) the event was well received by the media and the riders. Working and riding through the year, the team worked hard to eradicate the difficulties of the first year and work on a more exciting and an inviting route for the edition in 2006 adding more spectacular destinations and stages. HERCULES MOUNTAIN BIKING HIMACHAL arrived again in the fall of 2006, with the participation number rising to 58, attracting riders from India and abroad.

A new route, more challenges and exquisite locations in the Himalayas all contributed in making HERCULES MOUNTAIN BIKING HIMACHAL as one its only kind of stage race & adventure in the world. The event was a 9 day riding thrill for the riders as they wound through 760 kms of trails, singletracks and bike and hike sections through the grand Himalayan backcountry, a challenge for the mind and one's physical synergies. Out of the 58 riders who started 33 managed to finish the race, enduring the most difficult terrain and stages through the nine days of the adventure. MB Himachal qualified to be one of the toughest challenges in the world.
